What is COP?
COP stands for Coefficient of Performance
COP is quoted as a number, such as 5.6
For each kW of energy input, 5.6 x kW would be output
The higher the output, the lower the running costs
Installation
If you are thinking of heating your pool you should cover the pool when not in use as 80% of heat loss occurs through surface evaporation, a separate solar or bubble cover is a worthwhile investment if you don’t have an existing cover.
With an above ground pool it is especially important to keep it covered as these pools are not well insulated against heat loss – additional insulation around the sides and bottom of an above-ground pool can help to retain valuable heat – in fact properly insulating your pool can extend your season or even reduce the size of heat pump required.
The 5.8kW, 7.6kW and 9.6kW models come fitted with a 2.8m cable with RCD and UK plug, making them suitable for use in outdoor sockets, this cable can be removed and the unit can be hardwired if required.
It is recommended that the other ProTeam P models are connected to a circuit protected by a separate MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker, slow type, C or D curve), this is due to the increased full load current when the compressor starts up.
All electrical wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Water inlet and outlet connections are 1½ inch across the range, and the use of a bypass kit is recommended to control flow rate, for easy maintenance and for winterising the unit.

The electrical connection marked water pump should not to be used for connecting your filter pump as flow protection will switch the power off preventing backwash operation.
Installation guidelines can be found in the user manual including the required fuse rating and cable size.
Your ProTeam P swimming pool heat pump should always be installed outside, restrictions on air flow around a heat pump such as dense vegetation or solid surfaces such as sheds, fences or walls will lead to a drop in efficiency and heating ability, it especially important that cooled air can be properly dispersed away from the unit.
The manufacturer literature may state that the heat pump should be positioned above the waterline, the assumption being that pools are in-ground, therefore the heat pump would sit at ground level.
If you have an above-ground pool please also position your heat pump at ground level (therefore below the waterline), there is no need to elevate the heat pump.
