Pool Plant Room Modernisation

Pool plant rooms are often overlooked, the old saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” rings true and equipment often fails completely before a replacement or upgrade is considered.

Older pool equipment is less efficient to run, in addition filtration quality decreases over time, especially if the filter media isn’t replaced, increasing the need for extra chemicals to maintain water clarity, leading to increased costs of keeping your pool open each season.

At Automated Environmental Systems we help customers every day to update their plant room equipment, we can help with the design, quotation and installation, or we can simply supply equipment for self install.

Whether you are looking for an energy efficient heat pump to reduce heating costs or the latest water treatment technologies such as salt chlorination and UV sterilisers to reduce the use of chemicals but maintain healthy pool water we can help.

Benefits of modernising your pool plant room

  • At air temperature of 24°C, a full Inverter heat pump has a COP of 13.0 or more, meaning that for every kW used more than 13kW of heat is returned to your pool, making it the cheapest way to heat your pool
  • Modern pool pumps are quieter and more efficient, meaning a smaller motor is often required to achieve the same flow rate, meaning lower running costs
  • Smart controls give you instant information on the status of your pool and remote control over connected equipment
  • A variable speed drive adjusts the motor speed of a pool pump dependent on the requirement, a lower motor speed is significantly quieter and reduces energy consumption by 70%
  • Salt chlorinators use salt in your pool water to create chlorine, the levels are constant and controlled, providing a safe and healthy alternative to harsh chemicals
  • UV Sterilisers are an excellent way to keep your pool water safe and healthy, they use UV radiation to neutralise invisible bacteria, viruses, algae and fungai in your pool water
  • Well designed pipework reduces friction and pressure loss and increases flow rates, shorter runs mean less heat loss from heat pumps and other methods of heating your pool

Health and safety accreditation

We are pleased to have gained a SMAS Worksafe certificate (www.smasltd.com). This means that we have met the SSIP core criteria recognised by the HSE and other SSIP accreditation schemes. Meeting the SSIP Core Criteria demonstrates that we are serious about H&S and have (and use) an effective H&S Management System to ensure that any work they are engaged in is, so far as reasonably practical, carried out without risk to health and safety.

Automated Environmental Systems Ltd has demonstrated compliance with the CHAS standards in line with SSIP Core Criteria and UK H&S Legislation and has been awarded accreditation to the requirements of the CDM Regulations 2015.

Key points to consider

  • Boilers and electric heaters return less than a kW of heat to your pool for every kW of energy consumed making them the most expensive way to heat a pool
  • Older pool pumps are noisy and inefficient, think a kW an hour to run, they can be a hidden cost of running a pool
  • Backwashing your filter regulary is essential to maintaining water clarity and extending the useable life of your filter media
  • Long untidy runs of pipework increase resistance and lower pressure, this can mean lower flow rates and increased heat loss
  • An automated dosing system removes the guess work and prevents under or over-dosing your pool
  • Uneven chemical levels in a pool can cause eye and skin irritation
  • UV Sterilisers help to prevent the growth of algae
  • Less chemicals in your pool water means less corrosion of pool surfaces and pool equipment
