Q: “What fittings do I need to connect my heat pump and/or filter set to the hoses on my above-ground pool?”

A: We have illustrated which fittings you would need to connect some of the most commonly supplied pool hoses to our heat pumps and filter sets.

For example if your pool has 32mm push fit hoses and you are considering a Remora On/Off heat pump you would simply need a couple of threaded stepped hose tails.

Don’t forget the hose clips to secure any push fit hoses to the hose tail connections!

Q: “Will my existing filter pump work with a heat pump?”

A: Heat pumps have a ‘nominal flow rate’, this is the rate at which a heat pump will provide the most efficient transfer of heat to the pool water flowing through it.

If the flow rate is too low the heat pump will display an error code and will not start. Similarly you do not want an oversized filter set, heat transfer from the heat pump to your pool water will be reduced if the flow rate is too high, meaning your heat pump will struggle to reach the set temperature or take a long time doing so. 

Ideally you should aim to match your filtration flow rate to your heat pump’s nominal flow rate for the most efficient heat transfer.

A quick note about PTFE tape

The use of PTFE tape on threaded connections on heat pumps and filter sets can lead to cracking of the integral female threaded sockets on the filter multi-port valve or heat pump, especially where too much tape is used and the connections are over tightened.

In most cases the threaded union sockets supplied should have a suitable rubber seal and PTFE tape is not required. If PTFE tape is used, please use the minimum necessary and do not over tighten the threaded connections. Damaged caused by over tightening is not covered under the warranty.
