About this product
Our specially graded 16/30 silica pool filter sand is suitable for use in swimming pool sand filters.
Sand filters work by passing pool water through the sand, dirt and other particles as small as 20 microns become trapped in the sand allowing clean water to return back to your pool.
Backwashing
Backwashing your sand filter should form part of the regular maintenance of your system.
As dirt and particles become trapped in the sand it restricts the flow of water back to your pool and increases pressure.
Backwashing reverses the flow of water through your filter, this flushes the trapped dirt out through the waste port on your filter’s multiport valve.
Regular backwashing extends the life of your sand and makes a sand filter a very economical way to filter pool water.
