Overview

The Vertigo Fi 55 from Poolex is a 7.7kW (A26/W26) full Inverter heat pump that combines cutting edge technologies in vertical form, the small footprint and vertical discharge of air makes these units perfect for confined spaces.

The fully stepless Inverter design allows the Vertigo Fi to be responsive, efficient and quiet, choose between heating, cooling or auto, Smart mode for intelligent day to day running, Boost mode for fastest heating or cooling and Silent mode for the quietest operation.

The coloured LED on the front indicates, at a glance, the status of your heat pump, a green LED indicates the set temperature has been reached, blue indicates that the unit is heating and red indicates the heat pump is out of service.

The stylish dual tone ABS case is weather and corrosion resistant and features a waterproof flush fitted LCD controller that does not require a separate cover to protect the screen.

The Vertigo Fi 55 is a 230v single phase model, and will require electrical installation by a qualified electrician, continuous running and soft start avoids peaks in consumption.

For each kW of energy input, 15.31 x kW would be output

The higher the output, the lower the running costs

Installation

Heat loss

If you are thinking of heating your pool you should cover the pool when not in use as 80% of heat loss occurs through surface evaporation, a separate solar or bubble cover is a worthwhile investment if you don’t have an existing cover.

With an above ground pool it is especially important to keep it covered as these pools are not well insulated against heat loss – additional insulation around the sides and bottom of an above-ground pool can help to retain valuable heat – in fact properly insulating your pool can extend your season or even reduce the size of heat pump required.

All heat pumps in the range will require electrical installation by a qualified electrician, the use of a separate MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker, slow type, C or D curve) is recommended. Full installation guidelines can be found in the user manual including the required fuse rating and cable size.

The electrical connection marked water pump should not to be used for connecting your pump if using a sand filter as flow protection on the heat pump will switch the power off preventing backwash operation (flow is reversed during backwashing).

Water inlet and outlet connections are 1½ inch / 50mm across the range, adaptors for both pipework sizes are included.

If the flow rate through your heat pump is too high it can take longer to heat your pool or you may struggle to achieve your desired temperature, our bypass kit for above ground pools optimises the flow rate to maximise the heat transfer to your pool water. A bypass kit also allows the circulation and filtering of pool water without heating and for winterising your heat pump.

The Vertigo Fi features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity as standard (requires Wi-Fi network with suitable signal strength) and can be controlled from your smartphone. The Poolex app is available for both iOS and Android smartphones.

The App can be used to view the current pool water temperature, adjust the desired temperature, switch between heating and cooling modes, set the timer and turn the heat pump on and off remotely.

Your Poolex Vertigo Fi swimming pool heat pump should always be installed outside, the ABS case provides necessary protection from the weather, thanks to the vertical design of the Vertigo, the upward ventilation requires a small discharge area, meaning these heat pumps can be installed in a confined space.

The manufacturer literature may state that the heat pump should be positioned above the waterline, the assumption being that pools are in-ground, therefore the heat pump would sit at ground level.

If you have an above-ground pool please position your heat pump at ground level (therefore below the waterline), there is no need to elevate the heat pump.
